Jan De Vulf je obrazovan kao kinematograf u Briselu 2007, mada je oduvek bio više zainteresovan za grafički pristup tom medijumu. Iz tog interesovanja je nastala njegova fascinacija mapama i grafičkim jezikom mapa, što je česta centralna tačka njegovog rada. Kombinujući geografske sa sopstvenim sistemima, De Vulf ponovo stvara određena mesta u vremenu. Pri stvaranju mapa De Vulf često hoda kroz delove pejsaža, stvarajući tako fizičku vezu između sebe i rada. Sadržaj mapa često se odvija oko obeležja i granica koje su prisutne u tom trenutku ili koje su nastale iz samog rada. Ovaj proces često rezultira instalacijama koje kombinuju odštampane šeme sa jednostavnom montažom snimaka šetnji ili umanjenih modela oblasti. Iako je rad unapred isplaniran, njegovo stvaranje je proces radije nego fiksirani pristup, i taj proces često utiče na prirodu samog rada.

Jan De Wulf (Born in 1984, Antwerp, Belgium, where he currently lives)

Educated as a Filmmaker in Brussels in 2007, although he was always more interested in a graphical approach to the medium. This led him naturally to a fascination for maps and its graphical language and which is often the central basis of most of his work. In combining parameters common to geography with his own systems he recreates certain places in time. When making these maps De Wulf often walks through parts of the landscape creating a physical bond between himself and the work. The content of his maps often revolve around markings and borders that are present at that time or those that are conceived by the work itself. This often results in installations that combine printed schematics with a basic montage of live footage of the walks or scaled models of the area. Although planned in advance, the creation itself resembles a process more than the fixed approach and often interferes with the rest of the work.
