Pored nizova medijskih formi ponude izbora, koju srećemo u reklamnim blokovima i kampanjama, Medijska arheologija nudi saradnicima, posetiocima i građanima ČaLka mogućnost “povratnog” izbora – selekcije medijskog sećanja.

Media Archaeology – Options of Choice, 2009/2010

With the appearance of home video recorders, the twentieth century has opened up possibillities of a private choice of media history, as well as publication of these individual selections of media recordings during public programmes, which became a constitutive part of the performative archive of the project Media archaeology. The project uses all available cooperation from the institutionary archives, media houses, centres of culture and media production for collecting its materials, but also extends an open invitation to all interested potential collaborators and audience to participate in this joint archive by contributing their own archive collections or video recordings, contributions in reinterpretation and metadata articulation, therefore participating in the dynamics of rediscovery of the media material. It is precisely this participatory element of the project that we consider to be its greatest potential for promotion of media archive as a platform for public research of collective experience of culture and articulation of history. Apart from the series of mediated choices as seen in advertising campaigns, Media archaeology offers the collaborators, visitors and citizens of Čačak the option of reflexive choice: selection of a mediated memory.
